Cards with Papa and dad, games with cousins. Lots of talking, discussing, chatting and yes no internet! Family time.
Pinecrest Lake is one of those places where families have been going for generations. It’s in the Sierras, not far from Yosemite. I love the long hiking path all around it. It has many historic and beautiful cabins, a small resort, a restaurant and a few shops. There is even a library and a bike rental, and an outdoor movie theatre with the latest family movies and sells popcorn!
The best thing is there are very few bugs and the weather is usually really temperate in July and August. The lake has only quieter boats and no jet-skis or speed boats. Best of all, my boys really love going and my camper husband is in his element.

All those boys! Looks so familiar 🙂 I've never been to Pinecrest but it seems very similar to an area we visit up North. I'm itching to get away soon!
How fun! Love these pics!

Wow it looks amazing, those boys must have loved it!
Our son spent his whole summer up north in Algonquin Park from age 12 through 18, really amazing experiences he still talks about. Boys hanging out with other boys in the woods and on the water, it really seems to level them and transform them somehow.
We're back up north tomorrow to check out ski country and a new place to hang out this winter… it seems like we're both having busy summers and I'm so happy to see you doing well and enjoying it to the fullest XO
It's years since I went camping but this kind of 'glamping' would appeal to me more these days especially if there's latte nearby!! This is a pretty spot and sounds like a fun get together too! Perfect weather makes a difference!
Valerie hope you had some fun times with all your boys this summer!
Thanks Dawn!
Dani, I bet that was really something special for your son. How lucky he was to have that experience. I am wishing we did this kind of thing more with our guys, they love it so much! Hope you are having a good summer and I look forward to seeing where you went! xo
Thanks Miss b, I know having a good night's sleep and a gourmet latte helps!! I just cannot do cold nights anymore either! Hope you are having a nice summer. Going to pop over and see your adventures!
Kim, looks like a nice relaxing trip!
I remember camping in Oregon with my cousins in my teens, they owned some property up there. Had to sleep on a cot and froze my butt off. But it was fun, they brought their horses and we rode up to a lake that still had snow even though it was mid-summer. One of the last times I rode a horse!
A close friend of mine camps at Yosemite every year with her kids and cousins. Not sure if it's actually in the park, maybe it's Pinecrest…I'll have to ask her.
Have a nice weekend!

No internet and all that fresh air and family time…glorious!
Looks like such a great time Kim. Seeing all those boys is so familiar. I've got two sons too–actually 20 and 23 now but we had so much fun with them and their friends over the years. Those camping trips will be remembered so fondly by them and hooray—no internet—that makes it memorable in itself 🙂
Thank you for popping over and for your lovely comments. I'm sure you would enjoy visiting Munich and Liverpool as they both have so much to offer. Liverpool is about two hours from London by train.
Leslie, love that. These are the best memories for kids I think. Yes the no internet really helped!
Thanks Mary Ann!
Linda, I love that even if you froze you still had fun. I guess we remember the best parts right? Lol. Thanks so much. Hope you have a good week!
I will have to make that journey next time! Loved your blog.
I went to summer camp, many years ago, at Pinecrest Lake. Fun memories! It looks like you had a wonderful time Kim!
