Hope you are all having a lovely fall weekend. I just had to share this trailer from the best movie I have seen in a long time. Brooklyn is a beautifully crafted story of a young women’s move from Ireland to America to find work and a new life in the early 1950’s. Saoirse Ronan is wonderfully cast in this part as is each character in this story.
Based on the book by Irish writer, Colm Toibin, it’s about homesickness, family, love, growing up and finding your own life. Besides the terrific acting and story, it’s cinematically gorgeous transporting you back to Brooklyn and Ireland in the 50’s. I was charmed by the colors, coats and clothes from that era that they perfectly replicated here.
It’s also a romance and both male leads are adorable and have great chemistry with her.
This movie is so enjoyable you will forget you are in a theatre and that to me is the best.
Right now with all the strife in the world it was a treat to forget it all and get lost in this sweet story. I only wish there were more like it and I think I plan to see it again!
I will definitely LOOK for it after THURSDAY!THANKS for the heads up……..I don't get to the movies often enough!Hope you have a wonderful get away…………I did all the shopping today but forgot the TURKEY!!!
XO.
Athanks Kim! Love her and Dominic Gleeson, so will definitely look for this
I'm so excited to see this movie, Colm Toibin is one of my favourite writers. I have read this book twice in the last couple of years and I gifted it to a couple of good friends I loved it so much.
I bet it was wonderful to get caught up in the story, I'm looking forward to doing the same. Thanks for the review Kim XOX
I've heard amazing things about this film Kim. We were definitely planning on seeing it already, but this post sealed the deal for sure! I LOVE period films anyway, and when a good story is involved, it's just icing on the cake for me.

This film sounds charming, Kim. Sometimes a perfect escape is JUST what we need. I appreciate your review–the photos look practically ethereal. Scott and I stumbled across a heartwarming movie just recently on Netflix–titled Buen Dia, Ramon. It has a different vibe than this but we both loved it–a touching story. Thinking of you on Thanksgiving, dear Kim. I am thankful to have met you via blogging. Hugs for the holiday.
xx, Heather
Kim I really look forward to seeing this film; thanks so much for the recommendation!
