Home Inspiration – Naomi Watt’s NY Loft

February 10, 2016 By kimwheeler 14 Comments

Just got my Architectural Digest today and immediately fell in love with Naomi Watts and Liev Schreiber’s beautiful Manhattan loft. I’ve been making some plans to renovate and this really inspired me. I love this mix of antiques and pieces from Ralph Lauren and Restoration.

This entrance is pretty fabulous.

The dining room has an antique cabinet and mirror that are wonderful for display, but also great for entertaining. I’d love to find something like this.
I like this icy blue cabinets in the kitchen and the built in banquette. Kinda retro and reminds me of our kitchen as a child.

The cute family with their sons.

Another view of the dining room. The casual feel of the chairs and large table are nice. Seems so much more inviting than a very formal dining room. I know our family would use something like this. The light fixture and rug really make it different.

The boy’s beds are from Restoration. I think it’s so nice when kids share a room. Our boys did for a long time and sometimes I used to listen to their little nighttime chats when they were small.
You can see the rest of the house here at AD. I think Naomi Watts has such great style and she has three movies coming out this year. You can see their very pretty, totally different Hampton’s home here, which they had it on the market at the beginning of this year, but now are apparently renting for $20,000 per month. Naomi also bought this to die for ivy-covered home in Brentwood from Sally Field a decade ago. Smart girl!

What a super stylish post! Naomi Watts has it going on in the style department–I'm in love with her shoes. How fun to be gathering renovation ideas. I would definitely bookmark these images. Love the design inspiration today!

I love this post Kim and I actually saw this issue talked about on the news a lot because they featured the Kardashians' houses too, but I'm so glad you focused on Naomi's! 🙂 Her style is so classy and unique. I was so impressed with all the details and dark wood and I agree with you how her children's room was so cute. I always wanted my own room, but definitely appreciate having shared one with my sister growing up. I think it's important for siblings like you mentioned about your sons. I'll have to click on their Hampton's one next. 🙂

Kim, a little late commenting here but I just picked up this issue of AD today. Especially love the first shot of Naomi's entry and stairs. I am not a fan of the Kardashians but I am dying over Khloe's home, especially the living room. I'm always drawn to Martyn Lawrence Bullard's designs! His work is amazing.

So just curious, what are your renovation plans?

Linda I have to say I love the Kardashian's homes too, but can't stand them, so I didn't mention them. Both their kitchens were really pretty though. I am hoping to open a wall between the dining and main room. redo the kitchen a bit with new windows (greenhouse overhead windows are rotting), redo the counters, build an island instead of the peninsula I have, replace the whole house floors too and possibly change entry and front door and a few other things.. List is long. Not sure where to begin. I do want to keep the same look and feel of my house without making it look generic. I'd like to paint it white and I have to redo the front porch and lawn. Sigh. Any suggestions? I think I need an architect.

Ha Ha well I was being nice, I really can't stand them either. When I bought the magazine at Barnes & Noble I even said the to clerk "Now, I'm not buying this because the Kardashians are on the cover".

Wow that is a long list of stuff to do, sounds like you need a contractor to consult. Our house needs a lot too… My husband thinks it would be better to wait 5 or more years and then do a total remodel rather than tackle anything now. (our house was built in 1948) We'll see. After already living in this house for quite a few years I'd at least like a new kitchen and would hate to wait that long.

The weekend post is up with chat about the trendin The weekend post is up with chat about the trending colors for 2023 in home decor and fashion.. Did you love the 80’s? If so this is perhaps a more sophisticated version with sherbet tones and bits of magenta, greens and navy. Here I added a bit of these Easter tones to the coffee table with a grass cloth box, one of my books and a candle. I think the best way to update things is to add touches to the home and closet that appeal to you and mix them in with neutrals..
What do you think of these colors? I think they’re fun. Some clothing pieces bring me back to my Esprit loving days. It could be fun to add a shirt, shoe or bag in these tones and I selected a handful to consider..

Also on the blog, a few good white jeans, skin cleansers you may need and more!

I love the look of a classic white jean, paired with a chunky sweater or turtleneck in black, beige, tan, creams- neutral colors always look fantastic. Today it was warm enough that I could go sockless and wear my Madewell loafers with them and a little jacket I have from Anthro. Get your white jeans out. it will give your winter wardrobe have a little kick. White jeans can be worn all year and they even look great with winter boots and coats.

This is also a great time to look at your white Jean inventory. 🤍If you don’t have a pair that’s comfortable and straight leg, in a thicker material…this might be a good time to look. I’ll share some on the weekend blog as well.

We had the beach to ourselves and the weather was winter perfect. ☀️Cold and sunny. We had a picnic of sandwiches from Zoccolis deli and took in the sun and sea air while watching surfers and birds.

This song just seemed to fit -and relatable as I could not sleep last night! No idea why. Isn’t it maddening?

Hope you get a chance to take a winter beach walk.. They are the best.

I have to share a snippet of just some of the wisd I have to share a snippet of just some of the wisdom that was Martin Luther King. He will always be one of my biggest heroes and ten years ago I wrote a small post highlighting some of his very meaningful words and quotes that we could all use as a life guide. Link to the post in my bio and more on my stories.

Do you know he is the only American to have a holiday for him that hasn’t been a president? He also had a low approval rating when he died. That has changed. Now people around the world use his teachings of living in peace and the fight for justice as a model we can strive for. I find his words so very needed in a world that is polarized more than ever. ❤️

They have orange and walnuts -and for fun I added macadamias from my Hawaii trip and coconut flakes. I also switched out brown sugar for moscavado which is less refined and had more depth and flavor.
