Happy Friday! I woke up at 5:30 this morning with thoughts of Thanksgiving dinner swirling in my head. I got my coffee and sat down with my trusty old recipe binder to brainstorm this year’s menu and table. I’m always surprised by what I have in there. Over the years I have collected variations on Thanksgiving recipes, some I have tried- and others well, I hope to try some year!

Kim, Good Morning, I have missed you..Your Thanksgiving smorgasbord of recipes, table settings and clothes is just delightful..I will bookmark this for another read…And your Mom's recipes brought back memories of cooking with my Mama…What a delightful touch!…Some of her recipes have little food stains on them which is just precious to me…Aren't memories platinum!…
I love Thanksgiving the absolute most….It is such an American…all ours holiday…I plan to feast on gratitude this week…for the bundle of things that are gifts…We have so MUCH!
I wish you such happy cooking as you create your own web of memories…Thank you again for sharing…THANKFUL! Deede
Hi Kim, sorry if this is a duplicate comment. I've missed your posts too! I love that you try to make each Thanksgiving different – I'm so boring, I must try to change it up a bit! We had our Canadian Thanksgiving in October – it really wasn't very autumnal back then. I like to make German-style braised red cabbage.
Your mum's handwriting is so lovely … I can imagine how much it means to you to have her handwritten recipes by your side. Enjoy the week with all the family at home!
Deede, Thank you! So nice to hear you also feel the same about your mom's recipes..and those memories. Thanksgiving is truly ours isn't it? I love that its is uniquely American! I like you, am going to try and count my blessings this week and appreciate all we have. It's nice that there is some days off to do that! Wishing you a wonderful holiday. I am thankful for your kind notes! Kim
Patricia, I guess I try to change it up a bit for the fun of it. I love that you have Canadian Thanksgiving in October. I think it makes more sense as it gives a little more breathing room before Christmas! The braised cabbage is something my mother like to make. She grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and loved a lot of German foods from that!
Funny I look at my mom's handwriting and it does look so neat. I love how older generations have such great penmanship. I just get a feeling she is still here when I see her writing. A bit of comfort.
Thanks so much, Kim
We don't do thanksgiving but I think it is great to order nearby especially if you have a great bakery to do so – i think there is too much pressure for it all to be homemade where frankly stressed bought is better at times truth be told – i hope you have a lovely holiday with your family xx
Inspired by my USA friends I am going to make some thanksgiving things!! xxx
