I hope you all had a good Thanksgiving. We had a small one with my dad in the yard and though it was small, it was still nice. I know this year is an exceptional one. Most people will try to do as much shopping for the holidays this pandemic year online from their homes. I also encourage everyone to shop small in your own town, instead of the mall, so these small businesses can survive. Many have curbside pickup and personal shopping hours. I will share some more of them on my Instagram stories during this next month.
The fact is, the less we are in crowds and with people, the safer we all stay right now. I have already told my family that we are doing less which helps. Expectations have to be lowered this year. Focus on better made items and buy fewer. It’s better for the planet and all of us. How are you all approaching this holiday season with the pandemic? Have you also been thinking smaller this year? I think in 2020 we can all give ourselves a pass on going all out as we might usually right? It’s the one upside maybe of this whole year!

We were in and out.NO SHOPPING DONE ON MY SIDE or THE HUSBANDS………….
I am at a LOSS this year on what to get the MEN in my LIFE………think we will buy the FIRST BORN some more trees to surround his barn in San Diego to make shade ONE DAY!THE OFF GRID CHILD…………thankfully likes colored clothing.MAY have to have him give me a HIT LIST!
THE ITALIAN is REALLY HARD……..he wants NO MORE CLOTHING and has every TOOL a MAN can want!Plus, he has a BIRTHDAY on JAN. 2!!!
THE ITALIAN has gone off today to get the CHRISTMAS tree up by TAHOE!

Elizabeth, That is good to hear Nordstrom was not too bad- and people were masking up. I don’t know how people can feel safe shopping in a mall crowd. I am just opting out of that this year. I like our Nordstrom, which I can pack in the back- run in and get out fast. Isn’t it difficult to buy for guys? I am always perplexed. They want some clothes (they hate shopping), but don’t want their gadgets bought by anyone else. I am always on the look for men ideas!
Can’t wait to see your tree! We are getting ours today! I have to buy from a lot as I want something with strong branches.Douglas Fir’s from the mountains here don’t hold heavy bulbs, and the last time I cut one down it was filled with beetles! As usual, I love all your picks … we’ve been scaling back on holiday shopping for many years now. It happens when the nest is empty … so this year won’t feel quite so different. That said, I’ll be shopping more online and in our locals shops. I was pleasantly surprised to see that Black Friday shopping was significantly curtailed this year … I mean in person shopping. UPS and Federal Express are going to be even busier. I’ve been contemplating things I consider absolute essentials in my home and throws are high on the list. Serena and Lily’s are the best. Everything they do is the best really. I’m loving these bathrobes too. Shopping for men can be such a challenge. Will you be spending time at your cabin over the holidays? xo
Juliet thanks so much. I think a lot of these are already sold out. I agree we are also scaling back and it seems people are you know- expecting less and not killing themselves which is good. The most important thing during this pandemic is for all of us to get through it.I feel bad for UPS and FEDEX this year! Also shopping for men is SO hard. I have all men- my dad, husband and the guys. It’s a lot of man things to get.. and they want to choose their own gadgets. Hopefully, I will be up at th cabin soon. xo
