It’s Weekend Meanderings time with Elizabeth and Juliet, and our chance to share some good things that have come to our attention this week! I hope your week has been good. Here’s what’s been filling my head..

I’ve been working on my Easter table for our brunch and finally got my flowers. Now I have to iron the napkins and arrange the bowl of flowers that I just plopped in the center. I snapped a pic as it is now to share.
Since it’s just four of us this year with my oldest and my dad, we are having fun and making Hawaiian pancakes, a fruit salad and a few other simple things for our late morning brunch. I have been craving coconut pancakes that we had in Hawaii, so for a change we are giving that a go. Maybe we’ll take a walk after or play a game. I want things to be relaxed and fun, and I’m not stressing myself about any of it.

I used my mom’s vintage Spode dishes, this tablecloth, my Anthro pink champagne coupes (thank you Ani), and gold flatware (this beautiful set is what I’m going to upgrade to), and an assortment of vases and pitchers with rattan. I can’t remember where I got my bunny!
My dear grandma Jody always made a labor intensive Easter coconut bunny cake, from my generation to my boys. Grandma loved Easter and brunch and we always had a very special hunt at her house. She liked us all dressed up in our Easter best.. I love this photo of her with her kids, my dad, uncle and auntie at Easter in the 1950’s, and this with my sons when they were small.

I’ll be thinking of my mom and grandma so much this weekend.
Mark D. Sikes for Anthropologie

I’ve been waiting every week for the Mark D. Sikes collection for Anthropologie to arrive. I had seen a few pieces of it trickle into my local store, but I was awaiting the full collection to drop to share it on here and it’s quite lovely. If you are a fan of Mark, his ‘Beautiful’ books and the color blue, you won’t be disappointed. Mark named the collection after his darling dog Poppy.
My picks of all the pretty offerings ..

A few things I also like that were added to the collection after I made this collage are this blanket, which would be fantastic at the end of a bed or over a couch to curl up with at night, the napkins and rings, and stemless wine glasses.

Much more than I can share in this spot, see the whole Mark D. Sikes collection here. If you are unfamiliar with Mark, his latest book, More Beautiful is a good one. I also love his Instagram account. He’s a true gentleman and has old school taste and class.

Liberty London x J.Crew Home Collaboration
I’m a huge fan of Liberty of London the exclusive and historic London department store and textile maker. Liberty has been making their own printed fabrics since the 1800’s and their florals are especially famous. My first Liberty purchase was a set of sheets and they are still the nicest ones I own, so I was excited to see this Liberty home collaboration with J. Crew. Now we can get their beautiful sheets and fabrics without traveling to London.

I am sort of disappointed they do not carry the sheets in California King, but I am going to go with a King Duvet and make it work. I just can’t decide which print to choose. There are also tablecloths and placemats, and napkins . All the collection here, which will no doubt go fast.

White Jeans for Spring
Speaking of J. Crew, I had the chance to run to the mall this week and thought I’d try all the J. Crew white jeans on and see if any work. To me this was this jean was the winner, not too tight, perfect thickness of fabric and a mid rise at 9′ inches and hits just above the ankle. They did not have my size in Petite so I just ordered a pair and will report back. Love the raw edge and the demi-boot shape of these.. They also have this in a light blue wash. Note that this jean runs small, so size up if you’re between sizes.

What’s on your California Playlist?
DO you listen to Forum on KQED? This week they had a great show about the California soundtrack. It’s a fun episode with people calling in and giving their personal stories of how a song became special to them or marked a certain time in their lives and you can listen here. On the show they also shared that the New York Time’s crowdsourced list of the songs that represent living in the Golden State here. Once I began looking Spotify had many labeled NYTimes California Playlist, but this is the original and it’s up to 200 songs!

As a native Californian, so many California songs touch me. The top ones are ‘California Dreaming’ by the Mammas and Papas, ‘San Francisco, (Be sure to wear some flowers in your hair)’ by Scott McKenzie, and ‘Lights’ by Journey and all the Beach Boy songs. I would love to hear what yours are!
What to watch- First Ladies
Next up on my watch list is this new series from Showtime, First Ladies. Starring Viola Davis as Michelle Obama, Michelle Pfeiffer as Betty Ford and Gillian Anderson as Eleanor Roosevelt, this anthology series goes deeper into their lives and struggles. You can watch the trailer below. Looking forward to knowing more about three amazing American women.
Well that’s my meandering for this week now please pop over and see what great ideas my friends Elizabeth and Juliet have for you…

Thanks for the California playlist. Perfect to play while on the patio or in the garden. It’s been especially beautiful here in North County, San Deigo, with our beautiful blue skies and warm afternoons. My lemon tree is heavy with fruit, roses are blooming, and wild baby bunnies running in the garden. California is practically perfect in every way. Happy Easter to you and your family.
Holly what a beautiful description of your spring in California! Thank you for this..I love your area so much. Enjoy the playlist! I am also loving it. Happy Easter to you too!
Once again, Kim, my shopping cart is loaded. And I’m in serious trouble with Jim. Mark Sikes at Anthro! I had no idea and want everything. It’s so beautiful (pun intended) and your collage is art. And Liberty of London at JCrew. Where have I been and how do I to not these things?! Thank goodness I have you to keep me up to speed and with the program. Thank you. Your Easter table is the prettiest table I’ve ever seen. Forget the napkins and foofing the flowers. It’s perfection as is and I pinned every photo so I can get it together better next year. Those pink champagne coupes … marvelous. Love the photos of your sweet Grandma … her family and with your boys. I do miss the days when we got gussied up in our Easter Best … pretty little dresses, hats, ankle socks and white Mary Janes. And the excitement of the egg hunt. Your grandma made things special … and labored over the cute bunny cake. What lovely memories, I bet you miss her. Wishing you a wonderful, relaxing weekend. Is it raining there too. I’m so glad for the rain … but hope it clears on eAster for the littles. Enjoy your casual, coconut pancake brunch at that pretty table. If I told you what I’m doing you’d be appalled. Happy weekend, Happy Easter! xo
HI Juliet! The Mark collaboration is so good, I need to buy something before I forget and it’s all gone. I wish I had a place for that cute sectional. You are so kind about my table. I almost didn’t share. I’m not great with flowers.. or napkins. I’d call my arrangement a Califoina look. Thanks for making me feel better about the table.
My dear friend Ani gave me the coupes and I treasure them. I know remember those days of Easter shoes and bonnets and white sandals? I am old enough to remember the days when my grandparents would take me and my brother out the week before Easter to have dinner and them to Buster Brown.. (Was that Kenney’s?) and get white salt water sandals (brown for my bro) that would get us through spring and summer. That was a signal to me spring was here!
Hey it’s California casual here. My family isn’t big on formal so even though the table looks nice, it’s just an easy breakfast and a lot of chill time. I’m kind of jealous you are doing lunch out. We don’t really have any family who celebrate formally so it’s us doing it or nothing!
Have a beautiful weekend. xoxo
I love everything! The Easter table, the flowers, your bunny, the menu and the rabbit cake! My mom Mae the same cake for us! So many fun memories. The photos of your family are priceless. As for Liberty, much like you I love all of their prints! I am off to check out the beautiful offerings at JCrew, I have a few scarves but nothing for the home. White jeans are a staple and a favorite but with three pups I have to be careful when I wear them. I hope that you have a wonderful Easter brunch. Please share the pancake recipe, it sounds delicious. Happy Easter Kim. xoElizabeth
HI Elizabeth! Aren’t those rabbit cakes cute? Maybe someday I’ll try and replicate. Really a cute reminder of Easter’s past right? I do love the Liberty too! I love their scarves too. I agree white jeans require tide pen or wipes and mine rarely make it past one wearing without laundering needed! Pups would make it hard I imagine… I will share the pancake recipe too! Hope you have a lovely Easter too. xoxo
Hi Kim
LOVED this post! Your Easter table is simply elegant. So in love with it. Mark D’s Anthro blue inspiration is perfect. My house is in those blue tones. I need another credit card!?!? (LOL)
Also, your California playlist is great. It’s raining in Vermont today, so it is nice to dream of Cali on these wet spring days!
Happy Easter! Enjoy!
Lisa
HI Lisa! Thank you so much for the kind words about the table. I know I just love Mark and all he does. Enjoy the California playlist.. being a California girl. Stay cozy in Vermont! We have rain today too. Have a beautiful Easter Lisa. xo
Kim, your table looks lovely, so Springy (we are still getting snow, it’s still winter here!) This is a great post with lots of goodies to drool over!! Thank you for putting this together. My absolutely favorite song about California is Joni Mitchell’s California. I went to the Spotify playlist and there is was at number 1! And anything by the Beach Boys! Happy Easter to you and your family!!
Hi Lisa! Thank you. I love Joni Mitchell’s California! Have a beautiful Tahoe Easter. I saw the snow and it looks like a lot. Stay cozy. xo
Happy Easter, Kim! Another wonderful post, as usual, and always so informative and beautifully done.
Hi Pam, Thanks so much! Sweet of you. Have a great weekend.
Hi Kim,
I love everything in this post, oh my am I in trouble. The Mark D Sikes collection is right up my alley and I need that book for sure!
Your Easter table is so pretty and perfect for a relaxing brunch. I’m sad that I didn’t do anything for Easter this year, growing up with a German mom Easter was always a very big deal. She made us pretty dresses, we got new hats, gloves, the works. And our little egg tree that was the talk of all my friends because they had never seen one before. We had a curly branch sprayed white and decorated eggs hanging on it, so pretty. I usually do the same thing here, ah well maybe next year.
I’m going to check out those white jeans, I realize three pair in my closet is not enough!
Happy Easter Kim,
Xo Heidi
Heidi I thought of you when I saw the Mark collection! I get how you feel coming from a family that loves Easter and the traditions. How fun your mom must have been to create that egg tree. I would have loved that as a kid. I hope you enjoy the day at your daughters! White jeans are our staple! I wear mine year round. It’s our California girl uniform! xoxo
Kim, I love your table…California casual! Your Mom would be so happy to see her dishes💖 I always think of Mom at Easter and the egg hunts with you and Peter! We are going to Easter Brunch at the Country Club, then a relaxing day on the deck (hopefully). I was just ironing my white jeans to wear to a lunch date on Monday, love when we can wear spring clothes! Enjoyed your blog! xoxo
Thanks so much Auntie Wendy! I was thinking of her. Remember those Easter scavenger hunts? Grandma made it really fun for us! Great memories for me. I hope you had a good brunch at the Country Club. That sounds perfect. Yay for white jeans..! xo
Kim,
I’m sure you can make the King duvet work! Can’t wait to see what you mix it with.
I am so intrigued by the California playlist…one of my favorite songs is San Francisco Street by Sun Rai. I’m not sure if a playlist with all California songs for someone that misses it every day is a good idea or a terrible idea! I’ll let you know.! haha
Annie, i measured and wasn’t sure so I ordered a queen set for the time cabin! I hope it looks good there. I am looking up San Francisco Street right now!! I know I think you need to move back.. Well that’s the selfish me talking. xo
Just put on the California playlist…waiting to see how long Brent takes to figure out they are all CA songs!!
Annie, Some cool songs I hadn’t heard of either! Let me know if he suspected anything.. LOL
Hi Kim … Happy Easter and a belated comment!
Once again I just love everything here. I honestly don’t remember you ever writing about or recommending something that I didn’t love! 💕
Your Easter table is just perfect … so pretty! I loved to hear about Easter’s with your Mum and Grandma too! Happy memories here too of new Summer dresses and white sandals.
The California playlist is just perfect too and just what I needed! I listen to so many of those songs already, so it’s wonderful to have a playlist! I’m sure in some way it was growing up with all these “California songs” that first made me so keen to visit! … and I wasn’t disappointed lol.
I hope you’re having a lovely weekend … your pancakes looked amazing on stories!
Rosemary xxx
Hi Rosemary! I think we are kindred spirits… SO many good Easter memories of those times! I know I am listening to the playlist today and it’s kind of fun.. Definitely makes you appreciate this state. I hope your Easter was good. I will share the pancakes soon. xoxo
I THINK I WILL WATCH THAT MOVIE TODAY!
LOVE THE WHOLE IDEA!

Elizabeth, I just started and it’s really good!
