On this post, a block print dress for spring and travel that will be a go-to, a lipstick that helps the endangered species and is also a beautiful treat, the best tote organizer, a fun podcast and more..
How has your week been? You over the rain yet? I almost feel bad telling you I am lucky to be in a sunny locale…I am on my first girls’ getaway since the pandemic at the BNP Tennis tournament in Indian Wells. It’s a big tournament and they often call it the fourth slam because all the big names go. I am with my dear friends Bari and E, who are also tennis lovers. We haven’t done this for four years due to Covid and such.

It’s two straight days of – watching practices, doubles and singles.. The Indian Wells Tennis Gardens are a tennis lovers paradise with tennis shops, and cute places to eat and drink and more. It’s everything tennis and tons of tennis crazy people. We are also doing a little spa treatment and then back home..
You can follow along on my Instagram for more pictures and I’ll have more to share next week. For that reason this post is a bit brief today.
On my radar this week …

I came across This Old Thing, a clothes centered podcast with Brit Bay Garnett who was at British Vogue and stages fashion shows for Oxfam, and is called ‘queen of thrift.’ She chats with people who also love clothes and vintage. She talks favorite outfits from childhood, thrifting and great thrift treasures, tips and more. I especially enjoyed costumes designer Sandy Powell’s episode. You can listen on Spotify or where you get your podcasts. Bay says you can’t build a beautiful wardrobe without second hand
Emerson Fry has the prettiest collection of India Block prints always and this dress and here in blue, would be great on everyone. These are light and great to pack for a getaway or hopefully be worn on repeat someday when it is warm and water isn’t falling out of the sky!
With tennis on my brain this week, I spotted this cute canvas tote from Scotch & Soda, with a vintage tennis vibe..A fun one to use as a light purse on sunny days out or to fold and bring as a shopper.
Chantecaille is one of my favorite brands for their products which are cruelty free, vegan, but also very luxe. They are committed to helping the planet and their Wild Meadow Collection is the latest committed to help a region, this one being the Carpathian Mountains and meadows in Romania which ‘ripple with wildflowers, butterflies, and 200-plus bird species, are among the most biodiverse in Europe.’ This area holds some of the last of their species and is being infringed upon by agriculture. This lipstick is a bit pricier, but one of a beautiful collection that gives back and helps. I just adore the tube and the colors Crocus or Carpathia look pretty in this super hydrating lip color.
Beautiful product by a local Bay Area mom..
My friend Lauren has a company she started called Tote Savvy. A mom of three, she created her organizer when she realized she did not want to carry an ugly diaper bag. I so remember that feeling! Her smart organizers fit in most regular bags and she has expanded to three sizes. They took off and they are super popular not just with moms, but with people who love to be organized.
These inserts can easily moved between your bags and have a place for everything. I just ordered the Mini Tote insert for my trip. You can buy them on her site along with travel accessories and other cute bags, and darling gifts for mom and baby too. More ideas on how fans style them on Tote Savvy Instagram.

This week Juliet, Annie, Mary Ann and Cindy all did posts on refreshing your house for spring..All chock full of fun ideas.
If you missed last weekend’s post, I shared cool readers, spring things, rustic scones, J Crew’s new direction, a little about my mom and more..
Thanks for being here!

Love the cute dress!! I actually got some of those tote organizers for my flight attendant tote bag. They were great.
Martha I am so glad to hear that. I love being organized especially with a big bag. x
Hi Kim, enjoy the tennis (I’m jealous!) and say hi to Bari and E. I miss you! Have fun together. You are not missing tennis weather here that’s for sure.
Julia xx
Julia, We were so excited to see your note! We miss seeing you at tennis. You have to do this sometime. Maybe you have. It’s a lot of fun for tennis peeps. xo
Hi Kim! Enjoy the sun and your girls’ getaway! We have all earned time like that! I am headed to Florida next weekend for a few days with two of my oldest friends. We had originally planned this in 2020! One friend moved there in 2019, so this will be our first time seeing their home! Thanks for the tip on the dress! It was sold out on the Tuckernuck site, but I found it on Emerson Fry! I am hoping one day it will be warm enough to wear it here, haha!
Thanks Molly! I tell you it was so good to be in the sun after two months+ of dark and rain. I felt like I had transported to summer! Such a good feeling. Have the best time with your friends. It’s so good for the soul. I relinked to the blue version of the dress at EF thanks for the heads-up. I think the white one is still at Tuckernuck. I hope you can wear it! The blue is so you. xx
Hope you had fun on your latest jaunt! Love me some Emerson Fry, so that dress is right up my alley…
Emerson Fry is one of my favorite companies! I have shirts and four coats from them. Also so nice it’s a small company and a lot of the things are made in Brooklyn.
I just dog eared that dress in a catalog I got last week. I love the idea of one and done with dresses.
Cute sandals and a straw bag and I am all set!
Mary- Ellen, I aim getting so many catalogs now too. I love seeing all the pretty options for easy spring dresses. I agree.. sandals, a straw bag and you look chic and pulled together !
Kim,
I hope you have an amazing girls weekend! It sounds like a wonderful tennis get away! Also, enjoy the spa, that is always a good time.
Love this block print dress! T-nuck always has beautiful pieces. There is a dress that I have wanted since last year, green toile, but it is very dressy, and I literally have no where to wear it. But I did share it on the blog and apparently several ladies have places to wear it and I am excited to see them in it.
I need to order this tote organizer! What is that quote, necessity is the mother of invention? Good for your friend for seeing a need and creating such a great product.
Have a great weekend. Safe travels.
xo Elizabeth
Thanks Elizabeth it was really good to be with pals again and have some sunshine. I will look at your green dress! Sounds pretty. Agree handbags can be a black hole! I need this. Organization keeps me calm!
xo
Kim, it sounds like so much fun in Indian Wells. And warm! Enjoyed your Instagram stories and can’t believe you ran into your high school BF’s. Small world. Thanks for the podcast heads-up … already downloaded. I love the idea that vintage completes a wardrobe. Those block print dresses are adorable … plus travel friendly. Love your friend’s tote organizers, I’m going to look on her site right now. I adore my totes, but they’re alway such a mess inside. Safe travels home … excited to hear and see more about your tennis weekend. xo
Juliet it’s so warm down there.. Yes Bjorn Borg and Jimmy C were on our posters in our rooms in high school. LOL.
I think when you mixing vintage into the wardrobe lends a lot of style to your look.
Isn’t that dress great? I just ordered the tote insert and can’t wait until mine arrives. xo
Enjoy your getaway. It sounds like a lot of fun.
Thanks so much Lorna. Was good to get out of the dark and gloom.
Kim, I must say I thoroughly enjoyed seeing all your posts on Instagram from Indian Wells. We haven’t been for a couple of years. It’s such a fun tournament. And we love La Quinta!
Love that cute tennis tote from Anthropologie!
The tote bag organizers are a great idea, but honestly, I think I would find that I lost whatever I was looking for in one of 6 compartments rather than just one big bag…It’s things like this that make me realize…I am not at all organized. haha
xx
I know you are a tennis person! Did you go when you lived in California? I love that tennis bag too.
I am getting one of the tote organizers and will give it a go! x
Kim! I forgot to say thank you for the shoutout about our spring refresh posts! That’s so nice of you! Thank you!
xo
Annie
Of course! Was such a good roundup of inspiring ideas! xx
DID YOU GET A SUN TAN?
WELCOME BACK TO GREY AND RAIN!
XOXO
NO! I wish I did. Maybe got a little sun. It sure felt great to be there. xo
What a fun getaway!!! Love your finds and those dresses would be great for the summer here!!
The Emerson Fry dresses are so cute aren’t they very versatile!
