On this post, some cool happening at the US Open, pretty things on sale, Michelle Obama’s style at the Open -and her stylist and more good things…
I’m writing this post from the little cabin in Tahoe and it’s currently a rainy, blustery day and a cool 45 degrees here tonight! It’s been a nice change and so cozy with the fire on here and I was so glad I brought a sweater. It feels like November and I am not hating it, after the really warm summer.

It’s just Max and I here this weekend, and we are hoping to take a small hike at Sugar Pine Point State Park on Saturday. Today we worked and I fluffed the cabin up a little for fall after doing cobweb duty.. I am sharing a few photos below..
Are you ready for fall decor? I am taking baby steps, but I am really ready for all clothes! I love, love, love autumn and can’t wait to get my jackets back on!!
On My Radar …

I love sweatshirts and this Stacy Pullover is On Sale at Eververe…super soft and I love the puffy shoulder. What a great transitional piece that will work now with long shorts and through fall with so much.
I had to return a dress and instead just bought this Tiger’s Eye dress at Rails. I love the autumn vibe. It runs a little small and I bought large. Rails is also having a sale here, use code LDW30.
Target has woven pumpkins for $3 and I bought a few for my cabin as I can’t have real ones up here. I found them at the Target dollar area. Online they are $5 . I put them next to the smaller leaf arrangement at my cabin.

Target has these pretty leaves in a vase in two sizes. I grabbed them before they were gone, even though it’s early September.. I bought a small for the cabin and the large one for my family room. ( Both in photos above.)
My Reunion
It was a special night and I am so glad I went. Wonderful to catch up with all my friends from grammar, junior high, and high school. I would share the group photo, but you know some people may not appreciate it.
This is a small snap of the amazing women- Kim, Rosie and Tami who planned it and our group..

It was held in a cute Mexican Restaurant and our party was on the patio with a taco bar and a DJ! We had a photo booth where you could take photos and text the to yourself. That was a great idea and their small business by two local young women is Photo Booth Girlies. If you have a party – a great idea!
The dress I ordered from Rails, did not fit, so I wore a black Ramy Brook dress I have had for years that is easy to wear and I hope flatters. I actually had forgotten it was in the gallows of the closet… This is the only good one I have of the dress, with my dear pal Lance, so I hope he doesn’t mind if I share..

My dress is no longer available, but one is here in blue on Poshmark.
This dress below left by Ramy is similar, and this right, is nearly identical except for the neckline. They are longer than they show. The fabric feels amazing like the finest silk, but they are polyester and wear well and easy to travel and care for. These dresses will be great closet classics.

Bang for you Bucks- Fresh towels
New white washcloths are such an inexpensive thing and tidying up last week I noticed I had a lot of old washcloths.. I love having them stacked bath shelves and and I noticed how shabby they looked.
I popped over to Homegoods and picked up three stacks of sets.. One was from Brooks Brothers, and other Tommy Bahama… and another random brand. All are super soft, absorbent and for under $30, I feel like I’m at a spa with a nice pile for my face and how pretty do they look?

I recommend heading there for washcloths as they get stained and we are pretty hard on them. If you can’t get there – some here.
I’m pickier about the bath and hand towels. My favorite bath towels are these by Serena & Lily with the fringe. They wash beautifully and stay soft and absorbent..and they look pretty!
They are on sale now ( 56% off?!).. I will pick up a couple a few times a year when they are on sale.
I have these towels in the boy’s bath and the stripe in the pool/powder room bath. These beautifully made towels wear well and look better than any towels I have ever bought.

The whole Serena & Lily site is up to 40% off , so everything is marked varying percentages off, so it’s a good time to get fresh towels or grab anything you have been wanting.
US Open Stuff..
Are you following the Open? I love tennis so of course I’m watching as much as I can! How awesome is this poster with Billie Jean King made by Brazilian artist Camila Pinheiro? (Love her art you can follow here.)

This poster is part of a special celebration commemorating 50 years of equal pay at the US Open. Billie Jean King led the fight for it after winning the 1972 women’s title, demanding the next year that the women’s prize money equal the mens. She also formed the Women’s Tennis Association in 1973 that year and played the famous ‘Battle of the Sexes’ match where she beat Bobbie Riggs. I watched that with my mom! Do you know that still remains the most watched tennis match ( and top sporting event) ever with 90 million viewers around the world?!
The USTA is pushing for King to get a Congressional Gold Medal as no female athlete ever has and she has done more for women’s equality in sports than anyone. Sadly, it took 34 more years for all the tournaments to follow suit and give equal pay? Hard to believe..
I love this poster. I think Billie Jean is a badass and someone I hugely admire. I ordered one for my office wall. The poster found here, supports the Women’s Sport Foundation which she founded to enable girls and women reach their potential in sport and in life.
By the way, Juliet shared how to make the drink of the tournament the Honey Douce here! So cute with melon balls for garnish..

Michelle Obama Style
I also loved seeing President and Mrs Obama at the tournament…She looks great in her denim dress. I love her style always..

Her dress is an Oscar de la Renta, and she paired it with a cropped sweater. You can find similar dresses here , here and here. Her cute espadrilles are by Chloe here. If you need a cropped sweater to wear over your summer dresses – this is on sale at J. Crew- and so is this cashmere cutie.
I also loved her pretty black bracelet stack and they are Sydney Evan bracelets.

They are lovely and you can find Sidney Evan bracelets here in all sorts of colors and charms. They are fun to collect and wear together.
Mrs Obama is styled by a very talented young woman, Meredith Koop. Michelle obviously loves clothes and together they come up with some fantastic looks…. Great fall dressing ideas.

You can follow Meredith where she posts Michelle’s looks and sources on her Instagram
Well that’s it from my little corner of the world…
If you missed last weekend I shared a fantastic and uplifting book on mid-life and aging, what to wear to a reunion, and the story of Nordstrom did for San Francisco…
I hope you have a great holiday weekend,
Kim

I always love your eclectic and thoughtful posts. Thanks for all your hard work. I recently watched an episode of Housewives of New York to see Jenna Lyons and she mentioned Billie Jean King to the other ladies who are about ten years younger and none of them had heard of Billie Jean -how depressing!
Aw thank you so much Courtney! I’ve been watching the show to see Jenna!
What? How could they not know about Billie Jean? Well I’m sos glad they put her on a poster. Maybe the younger people will become more aware off all she has done for women!
Good morning Kim!
I hope that you enjoying every minute in your cosy cabin. It looks like the perfect place for a bit of rest and relaxation from the heat of summer. Not to mention it is such a beautiful place to just enjoy the quiet and peace of nature.
Love your touches of Fall. So far I have yet to add anything to the house, too many projects going on right now. Hopefully soon I will be able to pull something out of a box.
I am ready for Fall and the cool weather.
You look beautiful in your LBD! Your reunion sounds like a lot of fun, so glad that you enjoyed it. I have never been to a class reunion. I went to an all girls school and frankly I am not friends with any of the people so I don’t see the point. Ironically, my SIL is from the grade below me. We were not friends in HS but are now and she loves to attend the reunions.
I always enjoy watching the US Open. I played(horribly) tennis when I was young and it is always interesting to watch the level of athleticism and to hear the stories, history, etc of the players and the game.
Juliets cocktail looks delicious! She makes the best cocktails.
Have a wonderful and safe holiday!
xoElizabeth
Elizabeth, I know a lot of people don’t feel that pull or connection with old school people and that’s okay. I think you either loved or hatted school and I was in the middle about it, but wish more people I hung with came too! I just appreciated that they put this together too!
I’mm digging the coziness up here in Tahoe after sweltering the past month..
I didn’t know you played tennis too! Do you play now at all? I didn’t play for more than 20 years and started again and I’m so glad because I dislike exercise generally…Tennis motivates me!
Hope the weekend is lovely there and your weather is nicer. So glad you are all okay after the storm.
xo
Good Morning!
What a fun posting to read this morning ! You and your reunion classmates look fantastic ! Wow!
I’m wondering about your black flip flop wedges in one of your photos…I love them! And Michelle Obama’s cropped sweater. Covering my upper arms seems my future…I’m cultivating cute cropped sweaters…😜.
Enjoy Tahoe! 🌅
Aw thank you Rosemary. It was fun. My black flip-flops are these from Olukai… I love the support and the feel of them and I wear them so much because they are so comfy:

I know a cropped sweater is a great piece to have. I need one too. There are a few good ones at J. Crew and I particularly like this one on sale now..

and this cashmere one

Hope you have a great weekend too xo
I absolutely love your blog! Can you please share the source of your black pillow with the white cross? So cute!
Thank you,
Shannon
Thank you so much Shannon! I bought the pillow at a small store a while back. There is one similar to men in wool here on Etsy:

Hope that helps! xo
I love all your posts, Kim, which are always so I formative and fun. I grew up watching Billie Jean King and and am so proud and thankful for all that she has brought to women’s sports. I love watching the US Open but at the moment I am FURIOUS at Disney/ESPN (which is the channel showing the open) on my Spectrum. They are in contract negotiations and have shutdown the station. No US Open!!! The best matches are on now and I am soooo disappointed. Spectrum says they have offered Disney (parent company) a fair deal but the bottom line is that all of us subscribers are left in the cold. Infuriating. YouTube maybe? (Thanks for letting me vent!)
Pam that’s terrible! I would be so mad about that. I do know they are sometimes showing highlights on the Tennis Channel at night and ABC may have it later in the tournament.. I think they partner with ESPN? Also you may be able to find it online. Try Youtube!
So sorry and I hope you find it! Many other people must be angry too.
Kim, I’m loving all your nods to fall and with the sudden change in weather I’m so ready. That said, 45 in Tahoe … that’s a little cooler than I’m prepared for … what is happening?! Those pumpkins are darling, and a bargain, and I’m going to order a few. Thanks for sharing my attempt at the Honey Deuce … I’m loving the US Open coverage and looking forward to enjoying it for then next 10 days. Love the 2023 poster. Billie Jean King is such an icon and it’s a wonderful tribute to her. Also enjoyed seeing her with the Obama’s … and Michelle’s denim dress! I’m a huge fan of her First Lady style and now her post-first lady style. She’s an inspiration in so many ways. I hope you two enjoy your time in Tahoe and the weather allows you to get out and enjoy the great outdoors. Happy holiday weekend! xo
I know it’s crazy! Feels like November! I have had may ski jacket on all day. I know here I did love the pumpkins as they are sort of rattan.
You did great with that cute drink!! I am making it when we get home and it’s warmer.
I’m a Michelle fan too! She’s a huge inspiration in many ways! xo
Hi Kim,
Great to hear you and Max are enjoying your little piece of heaven in Lake Tahoe. Hope you were able to get out among nature and enjoy a good hike. A big drop of temperatures takes a little getting used to. I’m sure a welcome change.
You looked like Kim Adorable in your class reunion dress with your good friend Lance and the group pic too. 40 years can you believe it? Kudos to Kim, Rose, and Tami who planned the reunion. A big job. They are pretty ladies.,
YES YES YES ❣️❣️❣️ to Billie Jean King. I believe it was last week or so she was being interviewed on Sunday Morning. Being on the poster is great to see, she is respected by so many. To pave the way for equal rights for women takes a lot of where with all. Nice you will hang the picture in your office, the colors are vibrant and joyful.
Great pics of President and Mrs. Obama. I think the world of them. They are the best of the best. Beautiful smiles, and both so cool.
Have a lovely and relaxing weekend with your honey.
Hi Katherine! It’s been nice to have the cool temps and I think you have them too I hope! Thank you I was lucky to get to enjoy that reunion and the wonderful gals who did so much!
I love Billie Jean too and so great she’s getting more attention for her work.. Love the Obamas.
Hope you have a lovely weekend!
I don’t think you’re old enough for this…but seeing your friends in sleeveless dresses…what do you guys do for crepy arms?? I recently lowered my blood sugar and it helped with that somewhat. Think how many have high blood sugar and don’t know it!! I’d love tips.
Thank you. I live in Maryland, mountains.
Hi Lisa, That’s interesting I have not heard that blood sugar can affect your skin crepiness. Right I have found this amazing lotion from La Roche Posay – the Daily Repair Body lotion and I even gave it to my dad who said his skin looks so much better. I highly recommend it and you can buy it at Target or CVS or here:

Hope you have a great weekend in Maryland!
Kim—
I really find your posts interesting and full of pretty and tasteful fashion and home decor ideas. Love the way you make beauty part of your lifestyle (like fluffy new washcloths) which I try to do as well. Why not?
Love that black dress you wore to your reunion and the tidbits about adding a bit of fall to your home for a reasonable amount of money.
Hope your cabin stay was relaxing!
Coal, Thank you for saying that… so nice! Yes the cabin was relaxing! We had some winter like weather which I actually loved after the hot summer.
Hope you had a lovely weekend too.
xo
Hi Kim,
Happy to hear you enjoyed your reunion. It sounds like a fun, casual atmosphere, which is great for making everyone feel relaxed. Your dress is darling and you don’t look old enough to be celebrating a 40 year reunion.
The Tahoe cabin looks very cozy and ready for fall. I hope you made it to Sugar Pine Point Park – hopefully you visited ‘my’ house there, too! Always love the Ehrmann Mansion.
That poster of Billie Jean King is awesome – such a great athlete. She contributed so much to breaking the ‘athletic glass ceiling’ for women. I remember taking tennis lessons when she was playing and I dreamed of someday playing as well as her.
I hear we have a small heat wave coming next week, so summer’s not quite over yet. But, I do think I’ll make my way to Target for some of those darling pumpkins.
Have a great week!
Hi Janet! Aw thanks. I felt like my classmates looked great like they never changed! Yes we had a lovely walk at Sugar Pine! We did a hike on the road across from the mansion which was the x country ski trail for the 1960 Olympics.. I have to get to your mansion and take a tour again! I did that as a kid.
I love the Billie poster too. Glad to hear summer isn’t gone, but in Tahoe it was already November like! Hope you find the pumpkins at Target!
Have a good week too. xo
Hi Kim! Another great post! With temps in the 40’s at night, you must really be ready for fall! It has gotten in the low 50’s here, but I am still hanging onto summer. Just starting to shift things a little. You looked great at your reunion! Glad you had fun! I am loving the tennis. Our local cable provider is in dispute with Disney, so we lost coverage of ESPN2. Had to pay an arm and a leg for Hulu on demand to watch. And I already pay an arm and a leg for my cable…. But it is worth it. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
Molly I know it was crazy cold in Tahoe for a Labor Day weekend! I did sort of enjoy the change after all the hot here in California. I heard that some can’t get the Open and heck I would be so mad! Glad you could get it!
Hope you have a great week and enjoy your sunny weather finally!
Hi Molly! Thank you it was a fun reunion. I can’t believe everyone is having such a hard time seeing the Open! It’s ridiculous. It used to just be on the main networks. Why do they make it so hard?
Hope you enjoy it this week! x
I love your vibe and I have a goal to visit Carmel after seeing your instagram! I thank you for all the great tips! I may not have liked school but am happy for people that did oyu looked fab! My Daughter is a first grade teacher lol! As John Prine said That’s what makes the world go round!
Hi Karen, I totally get that if school was not a pleasant experience!
Wow wonderful your daughter is a first grade teacher! So grateful for anyone in teaching now! They have not had it easy the past years and so many have left. I hope she gets appreciated and enjoys it.
Hope you get to Carmel! It’s so charming.
