Oscar weekend is always so exciting here in California! Many people host parties and if the weather is nice you can really have an indoor/outdoor feel to it, even having screens out by the pool with cocktails! The weather is a little iffy this weekend so I guess we will see if the nominees will be coming in with umbrellas or not! How many of you have seen all the nominated films? I have seen about half and of those my favorites are Lady Bird ( a California girl story!), The Post and Darkest Hour. I may go see The Shape of Water tonight.
My husband knows tomorrow is my Super Bowl day, and I’ll be home so I’ll take up residence on the couch and he can deal with dinner, dishes, etc. I am all in and not moving from the Red Carpet pre-shows and everything after!
This week I ran by Zara for a few minutes and fell in love with this oversized white sequin sweatshirt. To me this would be the perfect relaxed/glam piece to wear to a California Oscar party! Next year I may even host one as I hope my remodel will be through by then. If so I’d think old Hollywood with retro coupe champagne glasses and some gold, white and small black accents for the table like below…
- This Zara sequin top is super oversized and most people could fit in a small, which I bought. I may bring this with me to an upcoming trip to Palm Springs for dinner out. I think this with some modern earrings and distressed jeans is perfecto.
- I love the look of this table with white flowers, white balloons with black strings, and masses of glass votives with gold accents. These braided plates from Anthropologie would be lovely even if you just used the salad plates over simple white ones.
- I also love these rose and gold-rimmed champagne coupes. They remind me of something my parents had in the 1960s!
Speaking of the 1960s, I love the vintage Oscar photos more than anything. People had so much style and glamour in the past. If you are like me and agree you may want to follow the Instagram of Rebecca Tuite. Right now she is posting the coolest old photos from the Oscars and she has one of my most favorite Instagram accounts ever. She is a fashion historian and author and you get little tidbits like the info below, so interesting..
Enjoy the weekend Oscar fans!
