I got very excited when I was asked to be part of a Coyuchi Pop-Up in San Francisco this upcoming Saturday, as they are both a local company and they make beautiful, ethical products. As a blogger I am often asked to promote or collaborate with brands and most of them I ignore. In doing this blog, I wanted to only collaborate with quality companies from California and even better if they are green. Coyuchi is one of the best.
Coyuchi was the first company to bring organic cotton bedding to the U.S. and has been doing it for 25 years! They make sure that every step of the process of making their products is done with the strictest environmental standards and humane conditions and uses the USDA Organic as well as Global Organic Textile Standards and the International Labor Organization to verify this.
Coyuchi was kind enough to send me an item for my home so I could share about it before the event. I chose these sheets and they are amazing. I love percale and am kind of picky about my sheets, but this is the first time I have had organic sheets and they felt fab right from the first night. I may have to convert all my bedding to organic now and I would also like to try their linen sheets. They have so many green and pretty choices.
Coyuchi believes in minimal processing of their materials so they feel real not slick and they aren’t coated with softening chemicals like many sheets and towels on the market.
One troubling fact is that ten million tons of textiles end up in landfills every year. Coyuchi is working to help change this with their Coyuchi for Life, a circular subscription program which helps change the way people consume. They know linens are one of the hardest things to recycle so they offer a program where you can send back sheets, bedding or towels when you choose and they recycle or upcycle them. They also are giving 1% of the profits from this pop-up to 1% For the Planet.which supports their local Fibershed which helps combat climate change with climate neutral farming.
Besides the wonderful ethics of this company, and the fact that they are based in Northern Cal, I do love the products. One browse through the website and you can see the luxe and natural options for the home. One of the luxuries of life is to have nice sheets, bedding and towels. These are the best investments of your money as you spend much of your life touching these things and sleeping in them. Natural and quality materials make you feel great and nothing looks better than luxurious textiles like linen and good cottons. Most importantly, having organic and pesticide free fabrics against your face and body is huge! We should all aim for a home free of toxins, especially in our towels and bedding.
