It’s time for our Weekend Meanderings with Elizabeth and Juliet. I hope your week has been good. Mine flew by, but there’s a few new things around here so let’s get to it..
My New Pendants!
I wrote the week before last about finally making a decision for new kitchen pendants and these Serena & Lily small Headlands Bell Pendants seemed like a fun choice and the price was great (still on sale for $278). They came quickly and Max was able to put them up for me one night this week! I wasn’t sure if they would be too beachy, but I actually LOVE them. I’m very happy with the look and they kind of soften up the kitchen which has a lot of sharp angles. At night they give off a pretty look to the ceiling too.

If you’re looking for pendants or a light for a room, they come in a few different sizes and shapes also in a black and the quality is very nice for the price!

Summer bath refresh..
I recently added a few new things to our main bath and one was this little ladder towel bar and a vase from Target.

Serena & Lily has one of these ladders, but they can also be found here at Anthro, here and here. Mine was a Homegoods find.

They no longer have this vase (or not online that I can find), but this is a similar one I also have from Target and I love the texture. Since this is under a skylight, and get a lot of sun, I added a dried faux eucalyptus branch in the little vase..

Easy summer white dresses
I am getting ready to go to a conference in Atlanta next week with blogging pals, Juliet, Annie and Mary Ann and was trying to find light dresses to take. I know it’s going to be very warm and humid..I was forced to do the mall thing and actually fell in love with two dresses, this unique shirt dress by Club Monaco with pretty stitching, a unique gather in the back and cool pockets.

I also found this Rail’s Jasmine dress. I am normally not a fan of these elasticized waists, but this dress has a relaxed fit and the prettiest details and a built in slip on the bottom.

Below, I’m in the Rails dress…and a bit sweaty and wrinkled..I had just gotten back from an outdoor lunch when Max snapped this, but you can see the length. It’s a nice run about dress and to take for travel. The skirt has a built in slip. I bought a small. but I’m usually a medium. I’m 5’3 and 135. I’m wearing my favorite Tory Burch espadrille slides I bought a year ago. They no longer have them, but I am considering these which are this year’s version of her espadrille slides..so cute!

White accent for the home
This shorter version of a garden stool popped up on Amazon and reminded me of my grandma’s 1960’s home. I like the shorter look and how nice to pop a plant on, or have two flanking an entry door, or to hold a pile of towels in a bathroom, or maybe two under a console table? Just a few ideas for this cutie.

A pretty San Francisco Townhouse in Frederic magazine

I love Frederic magazine by Schumacher and they always have inspiring homes. This 1920’s San Francisco townhouse in the Presidio Heights neighborhood by SF designer Allison Caccoma and updated by architect Andrew Skurman is one of them!
The owner is a lifelong collector of unique pieces and had Pinterest boards of how she wanted every room. With the most gorgeous arched windows and pretty terraces, it’s a dream. I’m crazy for the terrace above, with its the brick laid on the side in a zig-zag pattern and the beautiful doors. The owner has a mix of things from all periods and styles, which is very modern and personal.

The cutest summer totes
If you aren’t familiar with Mersea and their Moroccan totes, they are worth checking out. They are beautifully made and come in three sizes and a few colors and designs.. I love the white versions of their Medina Market basket. The small is perfect for a little handbag, the medium for a tote to hold more for a day out or a trip and the large is great even for storage and many use it for files! Love the cute details on the leather tab too..

Chantecaille Future Skin Cushion Skincare Foundation
In summer I really don’t want to much makeup on and I am also lazy. I found this light compact foundation that also has decent coverage and makes my skin look so nice. I just puff it on quickly with the sponge and use a fingertip for areas I want a bit more coverage. It’s a water-based foundation formula with smoothing and anti-pollution skincare ingredients that blur imperfections. It also comes with one refill for the compact. I have been using the Vanilla color. This is the perfect summer foundation! For each cushion compact or refill sold, a bottle of milk for a baby elephant is bought at the wildlife refuge Chantecaille supports -another lovely thing!

Supergoop family size pump
My friend Stacy who I play tennis with, always knows the latest and greatest and told me about this wonderful sunscreen by Goop Play Sunscreen SPF 50, which is so good and comes in a family size pump. It’s a fast-absorbing, non-greasy, water and sweat-resistant, and broad-spectrum SPF 50 lotion for the face and body.

I now have it in the pool bath/mudroom space where everyone uses it on the way out. I love how it feels on, not sticky or thick and is easy to rub in. It smells good, doesn’t leave a white residue, and everyone seems to like it. So important because I want us all to use more sunscreen here in California!

The Lady Di Look Book
This isn’t in the white theme, but I had to share this new release which looks very good..

This new release, The Lady Di Look Book: What Diana Was Trying To Tell Us Through Her Clothes, by Eloise Moran looks to be a really fun read.. and a must for any anglophile and Diana fan. It takes a deeper drive into Diana’s clothes and finds the meanings she was trying to convey, plus many interesting tidbits about her life we didn’t know before, added in with beautiful photos. There is a sample on the Amazon link and it looks great. I’ve already pre-ordered. It comes out next week!

Micro Weddings
Are you a fan of small weddings? The last pandemic years have encouraged so many to go small instead of the usual big overblown and pricey bashes. I personally love an intimate wedding and we had one too. This year especially a lot of people have chose to go small thanks to date and venue shortages, and they are just tired of waiting. I think you can have a stylish and smart wedding with all your dream details for a small group. Micro weddings are the latest things and Juliet is on it! Her niece just had a very chic and sweet ceremony and reception for twenty with so many good ideas that Juliet wrote about it this week. Cute Sophie and Chad, below..

Well that’s my meanderings. Please stop by Elizabeth and Juliet’s blogs and see what’s on their minds this week..

Thank you for being here!
Kim
If you missed last week, I shared designer Ulla Johnson’s beautiful Montauk home and her fashions, Wimbledon spectator style, Tahoe hikes to try, and more!

Kim, you managed to find more than a few things to talk about! Wow, I love the tote, and the TB espadrilles! But lets talk about you! You look fabulous in that dress! I hope that you are taking it to Haven. It will keep you cool and looking very stylish.
As for the foundation, I am very curious about it. I do not wear make-up, except for eyeliner, mascara and lipstick/gloss. I have never found a foundation that did not cause some skin irritation or make me look like an ompalumpa. I am going to check it out and see how it looks, thank you for the tip!
Sophie and Chad looked amazing, as did Juliet and the wedding goes to show that you don’t need to have 300 of your “closest friends” to have a beautiful, stylish fun wedding.
Your kitchen pendants look beautiful, they look sophisticated and remind me of Bali or a lodge is SA. Your have such a beautiful and unique style, perhaps you need to start a new career.
Have a wonderful day my friend. I am sad I will not be at the conference, but I look forward to hearing all about it.
Hi Elizabeth, Thanks I will pack the dress. Hoping I can iron it a little there.. I love Chantecaille products. Very high quality ingredients. I am extremely sensitive with rosacea and break out too. Great company with good ethics. Try it and let me know. The nice thing is now you can return everything. Also I tried it on at Neiman’s. Go there if you can and see it in person.
Thanks about the pendants! I wish you were going to the conference too. You will be missed. xo
Good morning Kim. Thanks for another fun read to start my Saturday. Love your white touches for a summery feel. When I see your pendants, I am reminded of some I saw in a little mailer that arrived yesterday from Home Depot. Yes, Home Depot! It looks like they are really stepping up their game with offerings more like PB or World Market, etc. They are even selling linens from The Company Store. They show a cute pendant light (Jocassee by Progress Lighting) similar to yours. I have no idea of the quality and the weave is looser but for the price of $119, it looks like a good imitation if someone is on a tighter budget.
Happy weekend~
Hello Wren! So nice of you..I know you are right! Home Depot is going into the design sector aren’t they? I have seen a lot of cute things from them. I didn’t know they have linens and cute pendants. I am heading over now. Thank you for the heads-up. Love more options! Yes I don’t think these kind of pendants should be exorbitant. They are a simple design. Thanks for keeping an eye out for me..Have a great weekend Wren!xx
My husband and I recently attended a lovely small wedding (25 people) in a beautiful resort. It was held on a weekday. As you mentioned, wedding backlogs from the last two years, and the desire to get on with life, have led to unique and creative arrangements. (I rather hope they replace the costly mega-weddings that had become the norm.) We were so excited to have a reason to get dressed up! As another sign of the times, however, six of us contracted Covid. Nearly three weeks later we’re still trying to shake its effects. Live your life, but don’t lose your head in the process.
I can’t wear white, and I no longer wear minis, but those dresses are adorable on you!
Sarah, I agree, why not go small? It’s greener, more special and intimate and better for the planet and people’s pocketbooks. I do think back in our grandmother’s generation, everyone had small weddings or got married at the justice of the peace and it was romanic to them!
I’m so sorry you got Covid. It seems unavoidable now with this very contagious variant, even for people doing the safest thing and testing! Take care. My Covid took a while to get back to normal from. Now my son and his girlfriend have it and she already had it a month and a half ago.Glad you got to enjoy the wedding and have a little fun. Take care!
Yes, this new variant is everywhere!! We’ll get through it. It helped clarify that we need to continue to be very selective about socializing. Sadly that means no 50 year high school reunion for me, especially since it’s taking place in a county with under 50% vaccinated.
Hope your family is better soon!
Oh Sarah that would be a concern for me too. I am actually worried about traveling to Atlanta. I know they don’t mask as much as we do.. I hope being in a conference will be spaced out, but who knows? Thanks and take care. xo
I’ve never heard of Fredric magazine… do you subscribe to get it? Once again.. I will probably end up buying several things you reccomend!! Most of my wardrobe selections seem to come per your suggestions!! I love the white dress… we are taking a cruise from Malta to Istanbul in sept ( to celebrate my cancer recovery!!) it looks perfect!! I just got my July/aug issue of AD and am waiting to devour it when I get to the Beachouse!! Love your blog!
Martha yay so happy you are doing that and celebrating being over your cancer. I think the white dresses would be lovely on you! Enjoy your AD. You can subscribe to Frederic on the link to the article! It’s a big magazine ( think old Seventeen) and you get it like four times a year. They also have the content on the web, bit not exactly the same.. Kind of a fun subscription! Enjoy the beach house! You’re going to love that AD. xo
YOU SHOULD CONTACT LOREE FROM THE BLOG SINCERELY LOREE!SHE LIVES IN MALTA!
Kim, where to even begin. I love everything you’ve shared. Love your new pendants, your towel ladder, that big pump bottle of sunscreen in your pool bath, that book, and those bags (the tag is my favorite part). You have the best casual but sophisticated taste in everything you do, Kim
xx.
Annie, Loved that outdoor film party with the gelato bar!! Those tags on the bag seem like you would appreciate! We think alike. xo
Good morning, Kim! Thanks so much for sharing Sophie and Chad’s wedding post today … I’m a new fan of micro weddings. It was such a great day. Speaking of great, your new pendants are beyond. I love them so much and they’re perfect in your kitchen. I bet they’re even more beautiful at night. How awesome that they came so quickly … and that Max was able to get them up so fast. If I were you I’d be spending the entire weekend sitting in the most comfy chair starring into the kitchen admiring them. Loving your bath refresh too and it reminds me how much I adore your floating shelves … and natural wood vanity. That drawer is so goo. Wish I’d thought of that. This white Rails dress was made for you and you look fantastic. Rails is a great brand. I’ve loved (and wanted) everything I’ve seen from them this year. One can never have too many totes. Or too much sunscreen. I’ve been meaning to order SuperGoop since you’re such a fan. I loved the glow face sunscreen you shared a while back. I need both … for the face and overall. Hope your weekend is off to a great start and you have lost of the to admire your new pendants. You’re kitchen should win awards. xo
I got so excited over your pendants I forgot to mention that amazing San Francisco townhouse. Especially the patio space. Swoon. And the little garden stool. Love the size … hmmmm … wondering where I can fit that into Snowberry?! xo
Isn’t that a gorgeous townhome? I love all the small details and the garden and terraces. Yes the garden stool! I am thinking it would be cute between loungers too..
Loved their wedding! Micro weddings are the thing..Aww thanks your very kind about the pendants. I am exited they look okay in here. I hope the new window coverings look okay too.. My kitchen is a little casual, not sure if it’s everyone’s taste..Rails is the nicest brand. Love the quality and that it’s a California company.
Awe thanks for sharing about my wedding!
It was a great day.
That townhouse in SF is beautiful!!!!
Hope it’s cooler there than it is here 😅
Sophie thank you for letting me share! Your wedding was so inspiring! You are a beautiful couple. It’s a scorcher here too today! Nearly 99 xo
Love your kitchen! Those pendants are divine! Thanks for all the great shares! The dresses are so cute and they sure should be comfortable for the Georgia heat! I’m going to haven as well but am a little nervous with the news on the new variant! I’ll probably be the only one wearing a mask! Have a great weekend!
Hi Mary Ann, Thank you I hope we get to connect at Haven! I’ll be wearing a mask probably too. xo
Hi Kim, I love your pendants they are perfect for your space. Isn’t it nice to have a husband that is handy? Cute ladder…you can score things at Home Goods. I am eyeing that garden stool. I have 3 full size ones but that size is perfect. I just have to find the right place for it.
I am obsessed with Frederic magazine. I wish it wasn’t just published 3 times a year. Time to pick up a copy at Barnes & Noble, they didn’t have the new issue out yet a couple weeks ago. I know I should just order a subscription.
My husband and I just planned a trip up the coast including 3 nights at a VRBO cute guest house on a small vineyard in Aptos. My husband has been wanting to visit the Santa Cruz area. I was looking at your post again from a few weeks ago so thank you for the recommendations. We definitely want to take that hike from the beach and my husband was checking out the restaurants online. He’s all about the food on vacation. 🤣
Linda
HI Linda, I was lucky with that ladder. My friend told me about them there… I love those stools! Isn’t Frederic good? It’s a treat and a keeper. A feast for the eyes! My subscription ran out and I’ve gotten it at Barnes & Noble too. There are so few places to buy magazines anymore. Your Aptos trip sounds really neat. Yes make sure you guys make a stop at Seascape, well the little shopping area above it. You will love the little general store there! The hike from theta is nice. How fun. You will find a lot of good restaurants too! Hope it’s wonderful.xo
Oh I might need to read that Diana book after You!!
Xxx
Okay! xx
