On this weekend.. the San Mateo Home tour, a recap of my Rails event, Everlane’s new linen, Tevas x Chloe collection and more..
Last Saturday’s fun at Rails at Stanford Shopping Center….
Hope your week was good! This week was busy, so this Saturday post is a little short…Last weekend I hosted a little shopping event at the Palo Alto Rails and it was a lot of fun. So many nice people came by and some were new to the brand and wanted to know more about it. I had a great time helping style people with these beautiful clothes. Thank you Susie, Kristin and Lee Ann for letting me share you in some of the Rails looks.. Thanks also to the lovely team of women working at this Rails store. They made it a great experience!

If you missed this, stop by one of the stores- Hayes Valley in San Francisco- or the Stanford Shopping Center. I think seeing the items up close and trying them on you will see why I love them…They have a cool men’s collection as well. Thank you also to my pal Jeanne for helping and snapping some photos.
I brought a few items home with me and realized they could make a great little capsule for summer. Next week on the blog, I’ll share all of the looks and details.. ( Sorry ran out of time this week to do it.)

On My Radar..

I’m a fan of all things Liberty and the few pieces I own, I treasure. This Fleur top from J. Crew is lovely for summer and also comes in other fabrics and colors.. 30% off now with code SUNNY
Everlane has a new collection and the tan stripes in linen bias dresses and tops are really chic..The whole collection here.
Serena & Lily is having 20% off for their Memorial Sale…This Larkin Rug has been on my wish list and darn it if it didn’t go on clearance .. There are a few sizes left and i am going to see if I can maybe make the 6x 9 work in my bedroom. I also adore these towels and want another of these storage baskets. The additional 20% works on sale items too. Use code GOFIRST when you checkout.
What to Pack For…
On Wednesday, we did a big collaboration of seven bloggers sharing ‘What to Pack…’ for their part of the country. I thought it would be a great way for everyone to share their expertise about their area…and just in time for summer getaways.
I shared my packing list and tips for what to wear in Lake Tahoe in summertime. We also had posts on Napa Valley, Paso Robles, Santa Cruz, New York City, Florida and North Carolina.. So many places I want to go now… Stop on by the post where I am linking to everyone here.

Tevas x Chloe
I just had to laugh as I went on the Teva site to find my granola pair for my Tahoe post this week and was shocked to see there is a Chloe x Teva collaboration! It’s apparently very exclusive as I had to submit my email to see it. There are interesting and fun if you have the extra dollars.. They are made of all recycled material. You can see the collection of the three designs here.

Personally I adore my regular Tevas for Tahoe and the beach and long walks. Mine are here. I know I never thought I’d own a pair either, but they are so comfy and kind of cool in places like Tahoe and the beach.. Good for long days on the feet as well.
The SOL Mateo Kitchen Tour
Juliet and I had a chance to attend the SOL Mateo Kitchen Tour which is in San Mateo, Burlingame, and Hillsborough on Friday. We are both house lovers so it was wonderful and for a good cause. All the money goes to help with mental health and how they help their community here.

The homes were in some charming neighborhoods..and we so wish photos were allowed, but they were not. Here are some exterior shots and some the pretty yards. If you are into home decor, you should do this next year. A lot of home tours went away during Covid, and I hope they are starting back again. It is so fun to see how others live -up close!

Photos of homes courtesy of Sol Mateo. More info on their site.

Juliet will have more on her post too on the tour.
If you missed last weekend’s post, it was on the cropped trench, some ideas for refreshing the patio, and Mother’s Day thoughts..
Hope you have a great weekend,
Kim

Kim,
It sounds like a wonderful and busy week. Your Rails event looked like a lot of fun and I am sure that everyone that came out was thrilled to be styled by you! They have so many beautiful dresses and outfits it is hard to choose s favorite.
Looking forward to your capsule collection.
Thank you for including me in the “what to pack post” so fun to see all of the other ladies tips.
I do not own a pair of Tevas but I think I might get a pair this year, not the Chloe just a regular pair.
House tours are so much fun, I love looking at all of the details inside and out. Too bad about the photos. But you did manage to find some beautiful ones to share.
Off to check out the Liberty shirt, and other sale items.
Have a wonderful weekend Kim!

Elizabeth you have had a busy May too! I am so glad we all did the packing post.. Thank you for joining. I now want very much to vist Pinehurst!
The regular Tevas are the best!
Too bad we couldn’t have all gone on this tour.. Hope the weekend is lovely xo
Hi Kim,
I really enjoyed hearing about the SOLMateo kitchen tour and seeing your photos of the neighborhoods. I grew up in Hillsborough and the Park in San Mateo. I enjoyed getting a peek at my old hometown. There used to be a Decorator’s Show House in San Mateo County for charity (and the organization name is escaping me right now!) Do you know if that is something that still takes place? I used to love going with my mom. The most memorable one was at Carolands, the Pullman Mansion. There is a spectacular view of the bay driving through that neighborhood and the day I went to the Show House the Oakland fire was happening and the smoke was really frightening. (That was a LONG time ago and I am aging myself, I know.) Anyways, I really enjoyed your post. Thanks for sharing.
Wendy
Hi Wendy! What a wonderful area to grow up in. It sure had retained its charm. You know this might be the same home tour as it is on the 41st year of having it and I believe only recently became the Sol Mateo tour..
Oh I really want to get to Carolands. I know they still have tours.. I just could not believe the gorgeous and well kept homes in those neighborhoods. I told Juliet I think this is the most expensive neighborhood in the whole United States..
Oh my gosh do you meant the Oakland Hills fires? I still remember that so vividly.. Was so awful. Who can forget that?
Wendy I must be near your age! Well you will be happy to know San Mateo is thriving. My oldest son lives in the town in an apartment and he walk with his girlfriend to everything. They just love it.
Have a lovely weekend. x
Hi Kim,
The Rails event looked like it was a success. How nice that your gal pal Jeanne came to help, too what a sweetheart. I bet you helped the ladies find some special clothes. You looked adorable on what you had on.
The kitchen tours, homes, and gardens looked really beautiful. What an excellent cause to support. Too bad about the rule of not allowing pictures to be taken. Glad you ladies did not shed too many tears over that. The weather looked ideal for a home tours.
Have a lovely weekend.
Hi Katherine, I know I was so lucky Jeanne came! She is wonderful with clothes and style.. Thank you I really love the Rails clothes. I know we wanted to share themes with you all, but it was fun and we got some great ideas too. Yes we finally got nice weather. Thank you hope the weekend is great too down in Arizona! xo
Kim, your Rails even looks like so much fun … I hope you’ll do another soon. I’ve never been to either of their stores and I’d love to come see everything in one place and in person … and of course have you style me! That Everlane striped linen shift is everything … what a perfect poolside cocktail dress. My mind is 100% on vacation and vacation-wear. Speaking of which … Chloe + Teva … style and comfort. Really enjoyed the kitchen tour … and the packing collab. We’ve had a lot going on! Hope you enjoy a quiet and relaxing weekend … you deserve it, friend! xo
Thanks Juliet wish you could have gone.. Isn’t that Everlane dress great? Love that whole line on linen. Maybe you need for Lake Como?? We had fun on the kitchen tour! Thank you Juliet for going. It’s been a month.. I am ready for a slower June. You deserve a chill weekend too! xo
Hi Kim! Loved your Tahoe clothing post! And double fun that you and Juliet met up for a kitchen tour! I hope the coming week is more relaxing for you!
Thanks so much Molly! Me too .. May was crazy..Hope you are having a good weekend. xo
Kim, Chloe Teva? II don’t know….I’m not even sold on Tevas, Tevas! haha
The kitchen tour with Juliet looks like fun! I’m so jealous that you girls live so close to each other!
xx
I know.. not sure about them either. The regular Tevas..they are great for days on your feet, beach and nature outings..and in Tahoe and Santa Cruz. I don’t wear them around on regular days.
I wish you could have gone on the home tour too! xo
Thank you for initiating the What to Pack series with your fellow bloggers. I read them all and found them so helpful. They were some of the best blogs ever! Maybe you can do one for winter. I live on Southern California and love traveling up and down the state. We also love going to Santa Fe, New Orleans and we may plan a trip to Chicago/Michigan to visit friends.
Hi Cindylou,
Thank you ! I’m so glad they were helpful! I really enjoyed them too. I was already thinking of doing a winter themed one.. That’s great to hear! I do love road trips too. We need to get a few blogs from other areas to join next time too. Good ideas!
Hi Kim
I love Rails and hope to make it to the store next time we are up that way for a Dr. appt for Steve. The San Mateo tour looks like such fun. I miss home tours! Chloe & Teva hmmm seems like a funky fit?
Hi Cindy! Yes you should stop by the store! They have so much more than you think and the people are lovely, so nice and helpful. I think there are some beautiful pieces you would like..
Looks like a fun day at Rails… I love that one shoulder dress on you! Hopefully that was one of the items you brought home.
FYI I ended up having to return the Madewell Kick Out jeans, they run very large but the legs were too baggy even if I sized down.
I have that problem a lot! I love home tours. My husband and I attended a seminar on Saturday at a remodeling company here in San Diego and looked around at their showroom for a bit afterwards. They also do some new builds so we are looking into that as well. We have almost an acre so if we can split our lot…maybe. It might be easier than remodeling our current home and we wouldn’t have to move out. It’s all so stressful lol. 😩
Linda
Hi Linda! Yes I bought that dress.. Shoot I am sorry about the Madewell jean. Did you try the J. Crew 9 inch jean? This is my new favorite and it isn’t baggy and slightly skimming the figure..but comfy..This might be a better choice for you if things run too large..

Wow exciting about your home remodel! You have a nice piece of property too. You have to share what you end up doing! Good luck.. I know the process is a LOT, but will be worth it in the end. xo
