It’s time again for my yearly holiday guide for the guys. As I have mostly men to buy for in my family- hubs, sons, dad, brother and nephews, I feel like I know what is on their lists! I hope this gives you some ideas and good brands to check out.
First of all, I want to say most things on sale, were cleaned out on Black Friday week- or month, whatever it is now. Most of what is left is full price. It seems people are shopping earlier every year!
I tried to choose nice items that will last. I have been training my guys to also buy less and buy better. They don’t need a closet full of things, just the perfect jogger, a great hoodie they love and a few other good things.
I just bought the Steady State Classic Jogger below left, for my 26 year old for his birthday, These have a nicer weight polyester/ cotton and drape and have softness, but have some structure. He can wear these to work with a sweater and not look sloppy. He loves that they stay nice looking. I may buy a pair for all the guys at Christmas. They come in 8+ colors and have different length options. They all need these nicer joggers
ABC Jogger by Lululemon right, is what the 23 year old lives in and is more sport material like and also very comfy.

This sweatshirt in five colors is also a really good one…

My guys like RCVA brand, especially my 23 year old. Their shirts are a bit more, so I usually agree he can get one nice one. This tan plaid is one I know they would like. The thermal waffle weave hoodie is another good one. It’s pricey, but I would rather buy them one nice hoodie that lasts and they love than two cheaper ones. ( The waffle weave fabrics wear so well too.)

I am constantly hearing that they need more socks. They will occasionally take to Amazon and buy cheap ones that they say suck in a month. I try and buy them a decent set for their Christmas stocking.
My younger one and my dad like the tall socks and the oldest and Max like the short ones, so go figure….These Polo (in black or white), are a good buy at 6 for $20 and the ratio of cotton and poly is good. The Bombas are pricier, but worth the investment. This 4 pack is $52, but I may get this for my son who loves nicer socks.

These Johnston & Murphy Half Zip Fleece Reversibles are super quality and how nice to have two shirts in one with the reverse option? Considering this for Max or my dad. This is one shirt… All the 9 color options here.

Travis Matthews also makes super luxe half zips. Max loves his. TM shirts are very large and Max wears a Medium in this shirt and he is usually a large.

These Billabong Polar Fleece are very popular with the younger guys and both my sons would love another. This dark paisley here and the two others right here.

There is ALSO this Billabong fleece just as nice at the Rack now for $39.
My family also likes Bay Area company Marine Layer. Most of their clothing is made in San Francisco and Los Angeles, This fleece design is cool -on sale. Last year we bought Griffin this ski jacket. The Alpine Sherpa is pretty awesome also.

Marine Layer also makes this cool quilted shacket that I can see Max liking and this sweatshirt my dad would.

This J. Crew cotton half-zip sweater comes in five colors. Love a good cotton sweater.

Thermals are sure things and good ones at J.Crew left and middle, and the Rails Henley on right which feel amazing. I bought one last year for Max and it’s a favorite..

I swear my sons will wear their shoes until they look homeless. I don’t know why they hate shoe shopping so much! These Cole Haans are lightweight and super comfortable. Actually all the guys would like this style, which could go to work to weekend, and are in other colors too.

About three years ago I bought everyone Uggs and they still wear them. The Ugg suede slippers are great for my dad and Max. I would get the Scuff Uggs for the younger guys.

If he needs a robe, this plaid is old school cool and Max has this Ugg one.

These Kodak Instant Print Cameras are very popular with the teens and 20 somethings..

These Nodpods are a thoughtful gift and super relaxing for anyone who needs to sleep better or just chill.

I think it’s good for guys of all ages to have some skin products and this Kiehl’s kit (love their products), is marked down and a nice starter kit with cleaners and moisturizer. The Jack Black Jet Set kit is another with a Dopp kit included for $50.

They always could use more undershirts and there are no better than the Calvin Klein Cotton for softness, and quality. The three pack are on sale now.

Lastly, guys of ALL ages will love this light up frisbee. I know my guys would be crazy for this..

I hope this gave you some ideas! I will add things here the next week or so as I see them. Good luck with your shopping.
One of my blog friends, Robin told me last year that she individually takes each of her grown kids out for a beer and then they shop and choose a few things they want! How fun. She takes the things home and they get them on Christmas. I thought that was a great idea, especially with young adult children. Do you have a gift that’s a great idea for guys? Please share any good ideas below!
I will be back on Saturday for the Weekend Meander – the last post of the year!
Thanks for stopping by,

Kim, great list here! Glad you have half-zips featured – my husband’s favorite things in his closet. ( Though, time for some new ones to get into his rotation. Just ordered!) And, I can vouch for the Cole Haans. We travel a lot, and my husband has completely switched to different styles of CH’s on our travels. So lightweight, so good looking and never any break-in time. He routinely gets complimented on them in both Italy and France. They know their footwear, so compliments from them are all you need to know regarding the style. Excellent list. Happy Holidays to you and your family.
Beth, My husband too! Oh glad to hear about the Cole Haans! I hear these sneakers are so good. Wow complimented in Italy says something! Thank you so much and happy holidays!xo
Thanks Kim, such great gift ideas! I have two sons as well (19 and 21), they also wear their shoes until they fall apart and neither likes to shop! Like you, I talk a lot about quality over quantity, cost per wear, etc. Both my guys love Marine Layer, I ordered several things for them this year. I also like to get them a few everyday t-shirts every Christmas, trying some from Everlane this year, first time purchasing anything there. After reading your post, I ordered the Rails henley for my husband and two frisbees for something fun!
I look forward to your lovely posts every week. Happy Holidays to you and your family!
Amanda that’s so funny about their shoes too. LOL. Oh good reminder about Everlane! They do have some good things.
The Henley is the nicest shirt. The frisbees look fun right?
Aw thank you so much and hope you and your guys have a great holiday too. xx
Thanks Kim! I have been looking for something for my grand-nephews that are 8 and 6. Although I hate to give Amazon one more penny, I think that frisbee is perfect for them! You solved my problem!
Gray, Don’t those look fun? I agree I need to find an alternative to Amazon, but last night I didn’t see that. Looking for an alternative. I think your nephews will love those. xo
Some great ideas here!
My stylish, outdoorsy 34 year old son, is into the brand Outerknown (loves his Chroma Blanket Shirt). https://www.outerknown.com/
He also loves Topo Designs (a local Colorado brand) for work bags and cool gear. https://topodesigns.com/
He tends to find something he loves, and wears it on repeat, so he’s certainly into higher quality, fewer things ethos!
My Husband has Henley’s I’ve purchased from Huckberry that he wears on repeat. That’s a fun men’s online store. https://huckberry.com/ lots of cool gear there!
I’ve also got to recommend Tommy Bahama boxer briefs. Very nice quality, and such fun cheerful prints!
For my little boy Grandsons, I decided Spooner Boards for all three. They are 6 and 4. I like for them to be active, and I think they can grow into using them in different ways.

Lisa you are awesome! Thank you so much for these ideas! Those blanket shirts are wonderful and Outerknown is such a good sustainable brand, much like Marine Layer.
I am going to check out those boxer briefs for my guys… Huckberry and spooner boards. xo
Great ideas, Kim! Why are guys so hard? The Kiels skin care is a wonderful idea! I will definitely be ordering for my husband and son. Wishing you a fabulous holiday season!
I know! They are picky too… Aw hope it it’s helpful!
Happy holidays to you too. xo
Hi, Kim —
Thanks for this. I agree that the guys are tough, especially the stockings. I can think of a million things my daughter would like, but not so much the guys. In our family, after too many misses and required returns, we exchange lists with clickable links, but I always want to have a few Santa surprises as well.
The link to the Kiehl’s skincare goes to the lululemon sweatshirt. Could you please fix that? 🙂
Happy holidays!
Julia, Thank you for letting me know! Corrected this and this is the link…

Julia, That is a great idea. I know someone else whose family does that too..You hatee for them to be stuck with things. I tried to choose places that have good return policies also. Happy Holidays!
Kim thank you so much for these suggestions!! You made it really easy for me to order gifts for my son. I appreciate getting your tips on quality clothing!
Sally I’m glad you found it helpful! I know it can be hard shopping for guys. I tried to choose things that will last. xo
Thanks for the ideas, Kim. I am wrapping up (pun intended) my shopping after just returning from a vacay to the Big Island. I ordered the Nodpods for my son and the flying ring for one of my grandsons but I suspect the whole family will have fun with it. Wishing you peaceful and happy holidays. I love the goal of keeping things less hectic. I used to bake a lot but don’t anymore so that’s one less thing and there’s not as much temptation to eat sweets!
Thanks Wren, I hope your trip to the Big Island was good! I am getting those for my guys. I also am baking less now! Everyone wants to eat healthy.
Wishing you a happy Christmas too! xo
