I just adore this bowl filled with basil, mint and herbs on my friend @tracybilello’s kitchen counter! Tracy has the prettiest home in Southern California and an eye for pulling beautiful things together. I enjoy her views of the hills and nature she shares daily on her stories. I am also inspired by her fantastic taste in all things. I just have to mention she is the kindest person… and I love following her. I hope she doesn’t mind, but I’m going to try and copy this on my own kitchen island!

Happy first day of fall! Wow this year flew by.. Love this little vase from my friend Kim. It’s just the perfect thing for my new bookshelf. I went out to the front yard and clipped some olive branches for it. Little vases and yard snippets are some of the things brightening up the house right now. I’m seeing the small vases everywhere. This cutie was from @anthropologie.

A fall dish that’s really good and easy is Champ

A fall dish that’s really good and easy is Champagne Chicken Veronique. It’s one of my family’s favorites and with grape harvest season a perfect early fall dish! My lovely neighbors who moved in just a few years ago have grown grapes and who knew you could grow backyard grapes that were amazing to eat. These grapes 🍇 -swipe left, are so delicious they make me want to try growing some. The recipe is one I’ve saved from @alexhitz from an older @housebeautiful . I’ll share on my stories. Try it this weekend if you’ve got some good grapes! I served this with green beans from the garden with toasted sliced almonds.

We squeezed this wool rug into the entry for the photos the other day and I’m loving it here.. I did have it in the big unused open space beyond the entry. The door doesn’t open as well, but I do like a rug that actually fits the space. There’s so much sun in here I’ve moved the grass cloth table and I think wallpaper would fade too. Maybe a pop of color in this small space would be an idea -like a deep mustard or teal. I’m really loving all the jewel tones as usual when fall comes around! I think I’ll eventually add a long row of pegs for coats to the right here when I figure out the walls. What works is the light and the bench and we still love the glass door and sidelights.

Still enjoying this beautiful bouquet from a photo shoot at my house last Thursday. The designer who helped reconfigure our space and floor plan, Deborah Hurley @debbie_justmdesign, brought a photographer here and so many pretty props and flowers. It was fun to see things through someone else’s eyes and I love a few of the changes we made. Hopefully I’ll share some of the photos later when she gets them. Isn’t this arrangement pretty for fall? I love the round bowl as a vase! She had @buncheslg make this for her with her own ideas, but apparently a lot of people wanted to buy it! A fun look for a autumn table.

My bookshelf for this little niche finally arrived

My bookshelf for this little niche finally arrived from @serenaandlily and I love it. It fills the awkward spot perfectly. I am finally feeling like this room is coming together. I thought I’d fill this room with my books, but it’s smaller than I thought and I like it less cluttered. I am liking the blue tones with some pop of colors here. The natural wood tones and rag rug are my kind of thing!

Is it time to do pumpkin decor already? I saw a few people already have. I won’t put my glass pumpkins out yet, but the good news is I saw where they are this weekend! Last year, I stored them and it took a while to remember where . Anyone else have these issues? Maybe I’ll get organized this year. Hope you all are having a good Monday.

Thinking of New York today and the many, many people whose lives were changed forever on 9/11. What can you say on a day like today? Nothing is enough.

I’ll never forget the stories. They stay in my mind always. ❤️ I was 6 months pregnant with my second son and wondering what kind of world my boys would be living in. Sadly in a lot of ways, that day was the end of our innocence and confidence as Americans. After that people were quick to target others with hatred and blame for perceived differences. I wish sometimes my kids could live in that pre 9-11 America with trust, love and care for your fellow American.

Right now, every two days, as many people die of Covid in America, as in all of 9/11 . That’s hard for me to accept. Where is the love for the Americans we live with?? We split ourselves and allow internet searches tell us more than science and medicine. Taking a shot to help another doesn’t even enter the mindset of millions in our own nation. Can we come together again someday? Think of those who gave everything to save others they knew nothing about. So much bravery and love. Where is this love in our county? We need the love for each other now, if we can ever hope to be the America we once were.

Today marks 25 years Max and I have been married.

Today marks 25 years Max and I have been married. My mom was so right telling me he was the best guy ever. ❤️ You know moms and their intuition.

The first time I met him he wore shorts ( didn’t own pants), sandals with socks, a Renn and Stimpy t-shirt and a mullet! He was, as my friend Ted said, ‘A diamond in the rough.’ LOL. I will be forever grateful to my friends the Poci family for thinking we should meet. We weren’t each other’s usual types and I think that’s why we worked! Our first date was the film, Mrs Doubtfire!

From there on we spent every minute together. I learned to scuba dive for him and he cut his mullet and bought pants. Somehow, it all worked out. The years have flown raising boys and well, with life. We haven’t always had the ability to appreciate it all. I am feeling so grateful today for our family and everything and especially for Max. ❤️
